In short
On your turn you roll five dice, at most three times. You keep the dice that suit you and re-roll the rest. Then you write the result into one free box of the table, for example “threes” or “small straight”. Each box can be filled only once. When the whole table is filled, the highest total wins.
The goal
2–4 players take part. Score as many points as you can by entering the results of your rolls in the table. Each box can be used only once. The final score depends on the whole table, so sometimes it is worth sacrificing a poor roll to keep another box for later.
How a turn goes
Roll five dice. You may stop at once or roll at most twice more. Clicking a die holds it for the next roll, and clicking again releases it. After rolling, choose a free box. Entering the result ends the turn. You may enter zero if the roll does not meet the box's condition.
The upper section
Ones, twos and the following boxes up to sixes count the sum of the dice showing that number of pips. Example: three fours score 12 in the fours box. A total of at least 63 points in the upper section earns a bonus of 35.
Three fours score 12 points in the fours box (4 + 4 + 4). The lower section
Three of a kind and four of a kind need at least three or four identical dice and count the sum of all five. A full house, which is three of a kind and a separate pair, scores 25. A small straight of four consecutive values scores 30, and a large straight of five scores 40. Five of a kind, the “general”, scores 50. Chance always counts the sum of all the dice. Five identical dice are not an ordinary full house by themselves.
A full house: three threes and a pair of fives, 25 points. A large straight: five consecutive values, 40 points. The general: five identical dice, 50 points. A further general
When the general box and the upper box for the value rolled are already taken, a further general works as a joker. In the triple game the condition must be met in all columns. As long as a free lower box exists, you must use the lower section. The joker gives the full 25, 30 or 40 for a full house or straights, the sum of the pips in other lower boxes, and zero in upper ones. An extra bonus of 100 is due if the general box has 50 points in every column (a general entered as 0 gives no bonus).
The triple game and winning
In the triple variant you fill three columns whose results are multiplied by 1, 2 and 3. This also applies to the further-general bonus assigned to a column. When all players' tables are filled, the highest total wins, and equal top scores give a draw. With the “Open score sheets” option on, everyone's tables are visible during play, and without it your opponents' tables are hidden until the end of the game.
The clock
At the table you set each player's time for the whole game (2 to 15 minutes). The clock runs only on your turn. When your time runs out, you drop out and the others play on.
