In short
Each player gets seven dominoes. In turn you add a domino to one end of the chain so that halves with the same number of pips touch. When you have no matching domino, you draw from the boneyard. The first player to get rid of their dominoes wins the deal, and points from successive deals add up to a set target.
Goal and setup
Two players get seven dominoes each from a set of 28, from 0–0 to 6–6. The remaining dominoes form a face-down boneyard. Score points to be first to reach 100, 250 or 500, depending on the settings. There are two variants. In “All fives” (described below) points are also scored while placing dominoes. In draw dominoes the game places the first domino (the highest double, or with no doubles the heaviest domino), and points are scored only for the end of the deal: whoever first gets rid of their dominoes gets the sum of the opponent's pips, and in a block the player with the lower pip total in hand (with equal totals nobody). A match lasts at most 20 deals.
Your move
Choose a domino and the end of the layout you want to add it to. The touching halves must have the same number of pips. On an empty table the starting player may lay any domino, and the game rotates it appropriately. If you have no matching domino, draw from the boneyard. When you have a legal move, you may not draw or pass instead. A pass is available only with no matching domino and an empty boneyard.
Tiles touch where the halves have the same number of pips: 5 with 5, and 2 with 2. Points for the ends
After you play, the game adds up the pips on the open ends. If the positive total is divisible by five, you get exactly that many points: for example ends of 2 and 3 give 5. A double at an end is counted with both halves. Watch the result of the whole layout after your move, not only your own domino.
The four-ends option
With the option on, the first double can become a spinner. The two side branches become available once dominoes have been added in both main directions. Matching pips still applies, and scoring takes all active ends into account.
End of a deal and of the match
Playing the last domino ends the deal and scores the pips left to the opponent, rounded to the nearest five. When both players are blocked, the lower pip total in hand wins, and the difference is scored, also rounded to five. Equal totals give no advantage. Further deals continue until the target is reached, and a match can be won already by the points for placing a domino.
The clock
At the table you set each player's time for the whole match (3 to 20 minutes). The clock runs only on your turn. When your time runs out, you lose the match.
