Goal
Playing solo, remove all 144 tiles arranged in several layers. Select matching pairs that can currently be taken out of the layout. This is separate from the multiplayer Mahjong played at tables.
When a tile is free
No other tile may cover it. At least one of its left and right sides must also be free. An open top or bottom edge is not enough. Look at the stack heights and visible edges; the board does not automatically highlight every available tile.
Matching pairs
Select one tile, then another. Ordinary tiles must have identical designs. Any flower matches another flower, and any season matches another season. Removing a pair may expose tiles beneath it. Similar colours or numbers of symbols alone do not make a match.
Hint and shuffle
“Hint” shows an available pair and adds 30 seconds to your result. “Shuffle” rearranges the designs on remaining tiles. It costs 30 seconds if a playable pair existed beforehand. If no pair was available, shuffling adds no penalty.
Completion and ranking
Removing every tile wins. Your result is completion time plus penalties; lower is better. Closing the game ends the attempt. Reopening starts a new board, and an unfinished attempt does not count as a winning completion time.
